Chloe is doing great :) She was enrolled in a training program last summer and is making lots of progress on being nicer to other doggies. We moved into an apartment last summer and she has even made some dog friends here!
In 2011 we had a few new additions: Tiko the chinchilla, Ella & Lexi the Holland Lop rabbits and Sadie the kitten. Tiko lives with me in my apartment along with Chloe and Freddie the Fuzzy Lop rabbit. The others live in the country with my parents.
In a few months I am going to be moving into a house and then the rabbits will all live with me. I also hope to get a new dog this year if all goes well!
Here are the new furbabies:

Puppy Parent Review #1
In this new 'feature' I would like to share my opinions on everything doggy related! I will start reviewing things I think will help out other dog owners. I am no expert but I would like to think I am a knowledgeable dog owner! I will review everything from dog parks in the Ottawa area, toys, food or accessories. I hope they will be of help to you and as always comments are welcomed!
Review #1: Bruce Pit Dog Park!
Bruce Pit is Ottawa's largest and most popular dog park. It is a place where you will always find lots of dogs no matter the day or time! Chloe and I visit usually a few times per month. There is lots of parking available. The park is located far off the highway, you have to walk down a path to get to the main field area. My suggestion if you don't trust your dog off leash around cars is to leave him or her on leash until you reach the field, this is what I do. The park is not fully fenced but it is so far off the road I personally do not find this an issue. Bruce Pit consists of a large field that branches off into many trails that go into the forest. There is an endless amount of trails but all meet up and it is fairly open so impossible to get lost. The main trail loops around once and leads you back to the field. There are also ski trails you can go on in the summer that go even further. This is a great place to bring your dog to blow off some energy! I have seen every breed from Yorkie to Mastiff and the people are usually very friendly as well. The park is clean and has bag dispensers along the trails. Overall it is a great park if you want to see a lot of dogs. There is an endless amount of trails if this is what you want or a large field with benches if you would rather socialize with other owners as you watch your dog play.It is located in the Nepean area, close to Bells Corners, on Cedarview Road.

Another Loss for Our Family
Sadly during the first week of February my cat Damien died. We don't know what was wrong with him and my dad found him one morning. We hope he died in his sleep as I wouldn't have wanted him to suffer. He was only 6 years old and I am so confused over it. I couldn't believe it when I was told he was actually gone. My dad buried him beside Jazzy who died last March 2010. I am so sad about his passing. He was my favourite male cat I have ever had. He was huge and furry and loved attention. Whenever he was really happy he would drool :)
I hope wherever he is he knows we all miss him and love him. Rest In Peace Damers, my buddy.

Fun in the Sun! Summer 2010
While Chloe is not exactly a fan of heat she loooooves summer and water. She loves to swim in the lake and in the pool. We brought her to the cottage and she jumped right in! Bella (the new puppy) and Chloe are not exactly best buddies yet but their love of water seems to be bringing them together. There is a lake down the road from my parents' house and I was so happy to see the two dogs running around together in the water.
Now a Bella update: Bella is 6 months old now! She was spayed just recently and was none too pleased about being under 'house arrest' for a week. (She was only allowed to go outside on leash as she loves to jump and run, imagine that lol!) She is the typical Golden Retriever puppy; loving, sweet, and crazy hyper! She gets into a lot of mischief and her nickname is Marley (Marley & Me movie) since she looks like him and acts like him. I also call her 'Terror on 4 Feet'. She makes up for her naughtiness with her adorable looks though. Oh and in case you didn't know Bella does not live with me, she lives with my parents! (I'm not that crazy to have both Bella and Chloe in one townhouse ha!)
So anyways here are some pictures from Early Summer 2010!

Chloe's Issue
So being a full time puppy parent is super rewarding but it comes with its challenges. One of which is that no dog is perfect, Chloe being no exception. She has had issues with other dogs since she was around 8 months of age. This started after she was attacked by a large dog. Ever since then she will growl and snap at other dogs who approach her. This has been difficult for me because I just moved to a new city and making friends is difficult when your dog doesn't like the other person's dog. We are starting training classes soon and hopefully we can sort out Miss Chloe's issues. She is such a sweetie so I know she will be fine. I will put some updates on how her training is progressing.

Sad & Happy News
I forgot to mention in my last post that my family had a huge loss in March. Our beloved Golden Retriever, Jazzy, passed away suddenly. It was a hard time for us all. Chloe was upset as well in her doggy way I am sure, she loved Jazzy.
Our family just wasn't the same without a dog so we added a new puppy to our family recently. Her name is Bella and I'm sure Jazzy would have loved her. She is purebred Golden Retriever and a bundle of energy. Chloe wasn't too sure of her at first but now they get along great. We visit her at my parents' house often and sometimes Bella comes in to see us :)

Almost Summer!
So I have neglected my blogging this year it seems...
It's almost June now and Chloe is doing great.
She got a summer haircut and is happy to be outside in the sun once again! We have a new roommate now that has a dog, Max. They are best of friends. Chloe also has some new rabbit and guinea pig friends. She loves them a lot. She is a very happy puppy!
